Mechanical Design Engineer

Clitheroe / Darwen (Initially based at Clitheroe - we are relocating to Darwen towards the end of the year)

8am - 16.45 Monday to Thursday and half working day Friday 8am to 12.30

£35,000 - £40,000 basic – dependant on experience

Overtime 1.5x base, quarterly bonus based on department KPI’s

24 days' holiday during each holiday year – increases after 5 & 10 years in service

4% pension scheme

 
Combining 2 market leaders who deliver a product portfolio across specialised handling and automation products. We are currently searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team to support the customer experience as they continue to expand across the UK and Europe.

The role:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be picking up the jobs from the initial order placement stage and delivering general arrangements to timescales. You will own projects and be responsible for the delivery of them which will involve managing customer demands and expectations. A hands-on approach to this role is key – a great opportunity to join a globally growing company.

Experience & skills:

• Design engineering experience within Mechanical Manufacturing
• Sheet metal fabrication design and general engineering knowledge.
• Customer exposure
• Working closely with customers to deliver projects inside scope and on time.
• Project experience - looking after projects from order acknowledgement through to despatch.
• Thorough admin, reporting and communication skills. Coupled with a strong attention to detail.
• Mechanical Design Engineering experience would be considered from a variety of industries. (Food Industry / Waste Recycling / Aerospace / Confectionery / Pharmaceutical / Agricultura /  Construction)
• Good working knowledge of CAD Inventor is preferred.

Mechanical Design Engineer attributes:

• A highly motivated self-starter, with an interest in manufacturing engineering or an interest in working within a technical environment.
• Educated to Degree level with a mechanical engineering-focused degree.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Mechanically focused Design Engineer or Project Engineer.
• Live within a commutable distance from Clitheroe or Darwen.
• Ability to balance multiple projects
• Positive attitude, manner and communication skills.
• Working with and supporting cross-departmental – design engineers, Electrical Engineers, Purchasing, Ops.
