Junior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Somerset
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 plus profit related bonus, pension and 23 days holiday excluding statutory days
About the Role
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member, you will be responsible for producing P&IDs, layouts, and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD Lite, while also contributing to the development of a 3D library for standard plant items. This role offers the chance to work on innovative projects and liaise directly with clients to ensure quality and accuracy in design.Key Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate and detailed drawings in a timely manner to support the project team.
- Develop and maintain a 3D library for standard plant items.
- Liaise with clients to discuss and validate design details.
- Create detailed manufacturing drawings, including general arrangements, part drawings, developments, and templates.
- Generate piping and steelwork fabrication drawings, including isometrics, general arrangements, and orthographic projections.
- Review and check detailed design drawings for piping systems, supports, and steelwork in compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Prepare and verify bill of materials.
- Provide technical input during the detailed engineering phase of projects.
- Support the preparation of manufacturing work packs.
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years experience working and designing component parts (pipes, valves etc.)
- Bachelors Degree of equivalent (HNC) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Excellent working knowledge of SolidWorks (CSWP/CSWE accreditation is beneficial).
- Strong understanding of 2D CAD packages, such as AutoCAD.
- High attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Desirable Experience:
Previous experience in piping, engineering, water treatment, filtration, tanks, and vessels.
Familiarity with industry standards and codes for mechanical design.
