Lead Engineer
London (NW10 – ideally within an hour)
£40,000 - £50,000 Basic (DOE), 23 days plus Bank Holidays, pension, OT, New Van, phone, tablet, door to door travel.
Purpose of the Role
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for delivering exceptional service by performing preventive maintenance, safety checks, diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, and refurbishment of equipment. Work may take place at customer sites or at Hydraulic Fleet Solutions’ facilities. This role ensures high-quality service delivery and supports long-term customer satisfaction while promoting the Hiab brand and adhering to company standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service aligned with Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines.
- Conduct equipment inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades following service protocols.
- Prepare and maintain accurate service documentation and reports.
- Manage personal workload and schedule for optimal efficiency.
- Maintain real-time documentation to support accurate customer invoicing.
- Ensure security and traceability of spare parts.
- Recognize and communicate sales opportunities to the Service Manager.
- Provide constructive feedback for quality and service improvement.
- Support and mentor junior team members and trainees.
- Uphold the company’s reputation by presenting a professional image and complying with all quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Service-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
- Technical knowledge in hydraulics, mechanics, or electrical systems.
- Ability to stay current with technical updates and service bulletins.
- Strong commercial awareness and cost-efficiency in service delivery.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical service roles.
- Valid UK Driving Licence (CDL-class B or higher may be required for fieldwork).
- Minimum of High School Diploma / GED; Technical or Secondary College preferred.
- Must own appropriate tools for the role.
