Grounds Maintenance Operative
Location: UK & Ireland (extensive travel required)
Salary: £28,000 + Company Vehicle + Travel Expenses + Benefits
About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative with a passion for environmental work to join our dedicated team maintaining reed bed treatment systems across various client sites in the UK and Ireland.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is physically fit, and is happy to travel extensively as part of a dynamic, field-based operations team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct scheduled maintenance and inspections of reed bed systems.
- Manage vegetation control – including reed cutting, strimming, and weed suppression.
- Monitor and maintain water flow systems and drainage channels.
- Ensure reed beds remain functional, tidy and compliant with environmental standards.
- Complete site reports and log maintenance activity.
- Liaise with clients professionally and ensure a high standard of service delivery.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in grounds or environmental maintenance (preferably reed beds or similar wetland systems) – however full training will be provided
- Comfortable working in rural, remote, and outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small mobile team.
- Full UK driving licence (essential – company van provided).
- CSCS card, Chainsaw, Strimmer, or Brush Cutter qualifications (desirable).
- Basic understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Willingness to travel with overnight stays when required.
