Maintenance Engineer
Location: Manchester
Salary: £37,500 - £45,000Our client, a leading organisation within the Energy Efficient Solutions Group (EESG), is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer to join their expanding team. The company, rooted in a strong foundation within the lighting industry, has grown to offer a comprehensive suite of energy-saving and decarbonisation solutions-including LED lighting, Solar PV, Heating, EV Charging, and Air Purification.
The Role:
As the business continues to grow its maintenance services across Solar PV, LED Lighting, and Electric Vehicle Charging infrastructure, the Maintenance Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring equipment reliability and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the Service Delivery Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and client liaison on-site.Key Responsibilities:
Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on Solar PV, LED lighting, and EV charging systems
Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimise system downtime
Conduct routine electrical testing and inspections
Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures, including safe isolation and working at height
Complete maintenance records, test certificates, and service reports accurately
Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates and technical advice
Manage tools, equipment, and spare parts to ensure efficient service delivery
Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance operations
Required Experience and Skills:
Proven electrical maintenance experience in Solar PV, LED lighting, or EV charging systems
In-depth knowledge of electrical circuits, 18th Edition wiring regulations, and safe working practices
Skilled in fault-finding, testing, and repairs using diagnostic tools
Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and documentation
Strong organisational and time management abilities
Solid understanding of health and safety legislation
Desirable Qualifications:
City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance
BS 7671 (18th Edition) certification
MCS or City & Guilds Solar PV qualifications
EV charger installation and maintenance training
Health and safety certifications such as IOSH or SMSTS
Experience with BMS and building service systems is advantageous
