- Conduct maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a variety of plant machinery, including dumpers, loading shovels, and excavators up to 60 tons.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults to ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, including parts used and time spent on each task.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workshop operations and timely completion of tasks.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter or similar role, with expertise in maintaining and repairing heavy plant machinery.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Relevant qualifications in plant maintenance or engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
Day-to-Day
- Inspect and assess plant machinery to identify maintenance or repair needs.
- Carry out repairs and servicing tasks in the workshop, ensuring all work meets high-quality standards.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve faults efficiently.
- Collaborate with colleagues to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
- Provide technical support and advice to team members as needed.
