Position – Painter & Decorator
Location – Preston, to work the Northwest
Salary/Package – £26,000 - £30,000, Van/Fuel Card, PPE & Tools, available OT paid at Double Time.
Client
A fast-growing building and facilities maintenance contractor, located in the Preston area. Providing electrical, mechanical, and building services to commercial and public sector clients across the UK, with a strong reputation in the Mental Health/Healthcare sector.
Purpose of the role
To complete maintenance and refurbishment work, mostly of a decorating nature, although at times work of associated trades will be necessary.
Responsibilities
- Carry out pre and post inspections of occupied and empty properties to determine the extent of internal and external painting and decoration required.
- Having established the decoration need carry out the most cost effective and expedient preparation/repair/application of decorative products.
- Carry out a range of external and internal painting and redecoration tasks in occupied and empty properties whilst achieving a durable and quality finish.
- Prepare and clean surfaces using hand-held power tools and the appropriate methods. This could include scraping, sanding, sandblasting, hydro-blasting, steam-cleaning; and “burning off” of loose paint; repair cracks and holes in walls and joinery by applying fillers/ sealant. Prepare/sand surface for application of decorative product.
- Mix and thin paint to obtain desired colour and texture as necessary
- Apply paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, fibreglass, metal coating or fire retardant using brushes, rollers or spray equipment, following manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Carry out all necessary administrative work associated with the office team’s requirements such as keeping accurate and timely records of all work from receiving jobs through to completion.
- Liaise and work with all other trades providing technical advice as and when required.
- To work safety at heights, internally and externally using appropriate access equipment such as a tower scaffold.
Must have or hold
- City and Guilds Part III/NVQ 2/3 in Painting and Decorating or other equivalent qualification or experience.
- CSCS Card
- Full UK Licence
Progression through the company is possible, with in-depth experience of the role being an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided where required.
