Groundworks Estimator
Location: Derby | Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Package | Type: Full-time, Permanent
Looking for a new Estimating that will push you? Feel like your brain could do more than just churn out rates? Good. We’re not looking for average.
We’re looking for a Groundworks Estimator with steel in their spine and sharpness in their numbers. This isn’t a cosy desk job with copy-paste spreadsheets and rinse-repeat quoting. This is a hands-on, high-responsibility role with a team that actually builds what they price — and they do it right.
What’s the job?
- You’ll be pricing complex civil and groundworks packages across residential, commercial and infrastructure projects — sometimes with incomplete information, always with tight turnarounds, and never with your hand held. You’ll work closely with pre-construction, ops and directors to shape our pipeline and profitability.

What we need from you:
- Proven experience pricing groundworks and civils projects (£500k to £10m+ ideally)
- Laser-focused attention to detail — nothing gets past you
- Confident using estimating software (we use [insert software if applicable])
- Ability to read drawings, spot risks and ask the questions others miss
- Cool head under pressure, thick skin when needed, and a team-first attitude
Bonus points if you:
- Have an engineering or site background (you “get” how things go together)
- Are known for pulling rabbits out of hats with your numbers
- Can hit the ground running from day one
