A specialist recruitment consultancy is supporting an established UK lighting manufacturer with the recruitment of a Specification Manager covering Peterborough, Northamptonshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
The business is a well-established lighting manufacturer with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality lighting solutions across commercial, industrial and retail environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lighting or electrical professional to join an established external sales team and develop their career within project and specification-led sales.
The business is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds. This could suit an experienced Specification or Project Sales professional with an established network of industry contacts, or someone from an electrical wholesale, technical lighting or electrical sales background who is looking to move into a more project-focused and specification-led role.
Full training will be provided, including product, technical and specification training.
The Role
The Specification Manager will be responsible for developing new business and specification opportunities across the region, building relationships with key industry contacts and supporting projects from initial conception through to completion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing new business and specification opportunities across the region.
- Building and maintaining relationships with electrical contractors, consultants, specifiers, architects, local authorities and end users.
- Promoting lighting solutions and generating demand through the specification process.
- Understanding customer requirements and recommending suitable lighting solutions.
- Supporting projects from initial conception through to completion.
- Developing long-term customer and industry relationships.
- Identifying new opportunities across the commercial, industrial and retail sectors.
- Managing and developing a regional customer base.
- Keeping up to date with lighting products, technology and industry developments.
The Ideal Candidate
The business is open-minded on background and will consider candidates who can demonstrate the right combination of industry knowledge, commercial ability and willingness to develop.
This could include:
- An experienced Specification Manager, Project Sales Manager or Business Development Manager with existing industry contacts.
- A candidate from an electrical wholesale background looking to progress into project and specification sales.
- Someone with a technical lighting background who wants to move into an external/project-based sales role.
- An electrical or lighting professional with strong product knowledge and an understanding of customer requirements.
- Candidates with established relationships across contractors, consultants, specifiers, architects or end users will be particularly attractive.
Ideally, candidates will have:
- Experience within the lighting or electrical industry.
- Good technical/product knowledge.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A commercial and proactive approach.
- The ability and ambition to develop into a project/specification-led sales role.
- A professional and presentable approach.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to undertake a DBS check.
Salary & Package
Salary: up to £60,000 + benefits
Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone with the right electrical, lighting or sales background to move into a project and specification-focused position, even if they have not previously held a Specification Manager title.
