Business Development/Key Account Manager

Fire & Security

Newcastle upon Tyne

£40,000 - £50,000 DOE.

Purpose of the role

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Business Development Manager to focus on growing the business and extending the reach of our products to drive revenue. A main part of this focus will be to grow the companies recuring revenue streams through contracted monitoring and maintenance.

Responsibilities will include identifying new sales opportunities, pitching our products and services to new potential corporate clients within the public and private sectors. The role will also include maintaining strong relationships with our existing key accounts.

Grow existing customer accounts to become larger multiple key customer accounts.  

Our main areas of focus will be concerned with sales, management, and client relations, you will have a hands-on approach and be willing to support across all sales channels, including any events when necessary.

You will work alongside the Managing Director to drive the growth strategy of the business whilst focusing on KPI’s and exceeding targets. There is great scope for progression and promotion. In this position you will be at the forefront of business growth with the potential opportunity to build your sales team for the future.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Identifying new business opportunities, including new markets, new clients, new partnerships, and new products
  • Creating strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities.
  • Building relationships with new clients, gauging their needs, and developing proposals to address these needs.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with current clients
  • Pitching new/developed products and services to new and existing clients.
  • Attending conferences and events to build relationships with industry partners and staying up to date with any latest trends.
  • Creating sales forecasts and actively working towards reaching them
  • Potential to manage and train a business development team in the future
  • Collaborating with design, branding, and marketing teams to ensure that requirements are met.

Essentials:


  • An ambitious, confident approach
  • Three years or more experience as a BDM or similar
  • Currently operating within some or more than the following key customers Facilities Management Companies, NHS, Education, Multiple site account customers
  • Vast knowledge of the Fire & Security industry.
  • Proven experience in driving revenue and helping a business meet sales targets across all channels.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint
  • Solid understanding of business and marketing principles
