Assistant Estimator
Location – Slough

Assistant Estimator Job Description –
- Assisting in compiling estimates to provide an existing or potential client .This will involve analysing the material and people costs needed, to create a competitive quote that will aid management in bidding and securing profitable contracts and retenders.
- As a Trainee Estimator, you will work flexibly and observe all agreements, customs and practice concerning interchangeability of jobs.
- As a member of the sales team, reporting to your line Manager in the first instance, this role encompasses a substantial internal interface, supplier liaison and some customer contact.
- Taking instruction from the estimators, Business Development Managers (BDM’s), Service Directors (SD’s), Contract Managers (CM’s), other work colleagues and customers outside of the formal lines of reporting, this position requires a proactive, self-managed, detailed and task-orientated approach.
- Reviewing tender documents and printing off relevant paperwork and drawings if required.
- Filing tender information once contract is secured or lost.
- Conduct site surveys along with the sales team.
- Assisting in carrying out detailed M&E planned preventative maintenance (PPM) cost pricing and estimation for new contracts, variations to contracts and re-tendered contracts.
- Assist in the creation of asset schedules and assist with the proposal preparation for submission to customers on behalf of or in association with field-based BDM’s and Bid Team.
- Undertake on-going improvements associated with the production, submittal and internal processing of enquiries and their related systems.
- Assist in carrying out the M&E PPM contract cost estimation and pricing in accordance with internal task schedules, time allowances, customer prepared schedules and SLA’s.
- Obtain technically compliant and commercially advantageous prices from specialist suppliers and sub-contractors in accordance with enquiry requirements.
- Assist with the submission of hard and ‘soft’ copy proposals and tender returns in accordance with customer requirements independently or in association with BDM’s and other colleagues.
- Liaise in all respects as necessary with the BDM’s, SD’s, CM’s, and other colleagues to ensure the timely, accurate effective and efficient processing of enquiries.
- Implement and or assist in the efficient and effective handover of new, renewed, and re-tendered contracts to the operations department in accordance with internal processes.
- Implement and/or assist in the efficient and effective modifications to contracts (addendums and variations) in accordance with internal processes.
- Directly liaise with customers as is required in the undertaking of the role as and when required.
