SALARY: 42,000 - 55,000

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will take on the role of principal electrical designer on projects, responsible for designing safety systems, electrical cabinets, and originating all electrical and pneumatics drawings. They will also support the build and run up testing of machines, assist with electrical fault diagnosis, and ensure electrical safety and standards compliance.

Responsibilities

• Act as principal electrical designer on projects
• Design safety systems and detailed electrical cabinets
• Originate all electrical and pneumatics drawings
• Support build and run up testing of machines
• Assist with build and commissioning teams for electrical fault diagnosis
• Support controls engineer on commissioning activities
• Ensure electrical safety, risk assessments, and standards compliance
• Originate electrical bills of materials (BOMs)

Qualifications

• Electrical or mechatronic qualification (minimum foundation degree, HNC, HND, or degree in applicable discipline)
• SolidWorks electrical experience advantageous
• Minimum 5 years experience in designing machine electrical systems from scratch
• Understanding of UKCA/CE marking, PUWER, and machine certification
• Knowledge of motor drive technologies (servo, DC, stepper, and AC motors)
• IOSH or equivalent health and safety certification advantageous
• PUWER accreditation/understanding advantageous
• Strong cause-effect analytical abilities
• Excellent communication skills

Day-to-Day

The role involves a standard 9am-5pm schedule, with occasional requirement for additional hours.
