Materials Buyer
Bury St Edmund's/ Nottingham
£40k - £50k Basic + Commission, Car Allowance, 23.5 Days + Banks, Pension & Healthcare Plan etc.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and innovative organisation delivering secure and sustainable solutions for end-of-life technology equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing copper cabling and precious metal-bearing materials, including circuit board components for both internal use and a sister company.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase electronic materials cost-effectively and on time
- Create and manage purchase orders aligned with project needs
- Track market prices (e.g. LME) and negotiate supplier terms
- Work closely with internal teams to meet delivery and quality goals
- Identify and manage UK-based suppliers; monitor performance
- Ensure compliance with environmental and quality standards (e.g. WEEE, ISO 14001)
- Maintain procurement records and support process improvements
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a procurement role within the e-waste recycling industry.
- Experience sourcing electronic components or cabling (desirable).
- Solid understanding of precious metal-bearing materials and circuit board components.
- Knowledge of environmental permits, WEEE directive, and ISO 14001.
- Proficient in MRP/ERP systems, CRM platforms (ideally HubSpot), and Excel.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
