Field Service Engineer (CNC)
Location: Scotland-based (ideally Central Belt); cover Scotland and North of England, with occasional travel further afield
Salary:£35,000-£40,000 DOE
OTE:£50,000+ achievable (per hiring manager)
Vehicle:Company van provided; fuel covered
Tech: CNC lathes and machining centres; controls: FANUC, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mitsubishi
Tools:Company laptop and mobile (calls/texts covered)
Overtime & Pay:Door-to-door paid. Weekdays & Saturdays x1.5. Sundays x2. Travel time OT paid at hourly rate
Holidays:32 days (incl. bank holidays)
Pension: Company scheme (after 3 months)
Start:Immediate start preferred; minimal handover/training
Role overview
Step into a field service role supporting CNC machines across Scotland and the North of England. You'll hit the ground running on breakdowns, installs, commissioning and annual service work, with a blend of electrical and mechanical duties.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair and service CNC lathes and machining centres on customer sites
- Install, decommission and recommission machinery;full re-alignments
- Mechanical work: ball screw installations, spindle replacements, general repairs, PPM
- Electrical work: interpret wiring diagrams, safety circuits, VFD/automation basics
- PLC-level troubleshooting and fault-finding using diagnostics (FANUC, Siemens, etc.)
- Perform Renishaw ballbartesting and document results
- Read drawings/schematics; order OEM or third-party parts as required
- Complete accurate service reports, parts usage and customer sign-off
- Travel across Scotland/North England; occasional UK/international trips
Requirements
- Time-served apprenticeship (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent experience
