Description

My client is an established, well-known company within the hydraulic industry. With over 50 years  trading history they specialise in providing a multi service model to their clients across the hydraulic sector – being able to design, manufacture, service and install hydraulic systems. Due to growth, they are looking to add a driven PLC Controls Field Service Engineer to their successful engineering team. As a Controls Service Engineer you will be responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of PLC based control systems and electrical equipment across several industries – manufacturing, industrial and automation. This is a hands-on position that is mobile and requires a strong technical understanding of electrical systems.

PLC Controls Field Service Engineer

Leeds                                                                               

£30,000 - £40,000 DOE –, Overtime, Van, Pension, mobile. (Salary increases after probation)

Extensive career progression.

Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:


  • Install, configure and troubleshoot PLC Systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and associated software.
  • Service and maintain electrical control panels, sensors, actuators and wiring.
  • Complete service documentation including job sheets, inspection reports and customer orders.
  • Conduct system tests – ensure performance, safety standards are compliant with electrical standards.
  • Diagnose and repair PLC and electrical faults on site- and in workshop settings.
  • Communicate effectively to clients and colleagues of issues, solutions and preventative measures.
  • Operate and maintain a mobile service unit always ensuring fully stocked and presentable.
  • Provide feedback to engineering teams’ systems for improvements and upgrades.

To apply you MUST have or hold:


  • Full understanding of HSE.
  • NVQ Level 3 – Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming with fault finding ability.
  • Strong electrical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems, electrical circuits and industrial automation.
  • A desire to learn.
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbally.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experiences with variable speed drives, sensors and control panels.
  • Liaise professionally with clients and colleagues of all levels.
  • Full UK Driving licence.
