Position – Plumber
Location – Preston
Salary/Package – £25,396 - £29,500, Van/Fuel Card, PPE/Tools, Health Perks/Death in service, OT available – Paid at double time, Call out – 1-8, & more.
Purpose of the role
Complete range of plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair tasks across mental health inpatient facilities. The role ensures that all plumbing systems, fixtures, and related building services remain safe, compliant, and fully operational to support a therapeutic and safe environment for service users and staff.
Work as part of a multi-skilled estates team and participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota to provide emergency response when required.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all plumbing systems, including hot and cold-water services, sanitation, drainage, and ventilation components.
- Respond to reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring timely diagnosis and repair of faults to minimise disruption to clinical operations.
- Test, inspect, and maintain water systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and infection control requirements (e.g., Legionella control).
- Install, maintain, and repair pipework, valves, pumps, sanitary ware, thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs), and associated equipment.
- Assist with minor refurbishment works, system upgrades, and service improvements as required.
- Complete accurate job sheets, service reports, and compliance documentation using company systems.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-skilled estates team, supporting colleagues from electrical, building, and mechanical disciplines.
- Communicate effectively with clinical teams, supervisors, and other stakeholders to minimise disruption during works.
Must have or hold
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
- Experience with planned maintenance, fault-finding, and water hygiene compliance.
- Full UK Licence
- Enhanced DBS check
Progression through the company is possible, with in-depth experience of the role being an advantage.
