Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Worcester (Office-based, with customer site visits)
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Benefits: 25 days holiday, pension, company phone & laptop, use of pool car for site visits
Hours: Monday–Thursday standard office hours, Friday early finish at 1pm

Company Overview:

We are a leading automation capital equipment OEM based in the Midlands, specialising in automated production lines for the FMCG sector, particularly food. Our expertise spans full production lines for products such as yoghurt, juice, and condiments, covering both liquid and powder dosing/filling processes. Due to company growth, we are expanding our engineering team and looking for a talented Project Engineer with strong commercial understanding to join our Project Commercial Department.

Role Overview:

As a Project Engineer with a commercial focus, you will play a key role in supporting the sales and delivery of capital equipment projects ranging from £50k to £4m. You will work closely with customers, estimating project costs, preparing proposals, and providing commercial insight to ensure the right pricing strategy. The role is office-based but will involve regular site visits to engage with customers during pre-sales and project planning stages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare cost estimates and proposals for capital equipment projects.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously (up to six), with individual project durations of up to six months.
• Liaise directly with customers to understand requirements and provide commercial insight.
• Review engineering diagrams and support technical discussions with customers.
• Assist in identifying the optimal pricing strategy for proposals.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure project feasibility and delivery.
• Travel to customer sites as required to support pre-sales activities and project execution.

Requirements & Experience:

• Experience in capital equipment projects, preferably within FMCG, packaging, or food production sectors.
• Possibly a design/applications technician who is looking for a project role
• Strong commercial acumen and experience in cost estimation and proposal preparation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with customers.
• Understanding of production lines running through conveyors, filling, dosing, or packaging is highly advantageous.
• Engineering qualification is not essential but would be highly advantageous.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
