Our client is a leading creative production agency delivering high-impact exhibitions, live events, and immersive brand activations. They are seeking an experienced Technical Production Manager to lead the technical planning, budgeting, and on-site delivery of complex, world-class experiences.
This role sits at the heart of project delivery, bridging creative vision with technical execution. You will work closely with internal creative and production teams, alongside a trusted network of specialist suppliers and subcontractors, to ensure every build is delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest standard.
The Role
As Technical Production Manager, you will take ownership of all technical elements from concept through to de-rig, ensuring seamless integration of AV, lighting, structures, power, and digital systems across multi-zone environments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Production Delivery
- Lead the technical planning and delivery of exhibitions, live events, and immersive activations from initial concept to de-rig.
- Translate creative concepts and visual briefs into robust, safe, and cost-effective technical solutions.
- Specify, procure, and manage AV, lighting, staging, and technical infrastructure for complex builds.
- Produce and review technical documentation, including drawings, wiring schematics, RAMS, and method statements.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and venue standards.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Develop and manage production budgets, ensuring projects remain commercially viable and profitable.
- Raise purchase orders, manage invoicing schedules, and track live spend against budgets.
- Support project managers with forecasting and post-event financial reconciliation.
Supplier & Subcontractor Management
- Source, coordinate, and oversee multiple partners across AV, Power, Fabrication, and more
On-Site Leadership
- Act as the senior technical authority on-site, managing crews, suppliers, logistics, technical briefings, and more.
- Oversee decommissioning, packing, and return of all technical equipment post-event.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical production for exhibitions, live events, or brand activations.
- Strong background in AV and lighting systems integration, including projection, LED, control systems, and playback technology.
- Solid understanding of temporary structures, power distribution, and data/network infrastructure.
- Commercially astute with experience managing budgets, suppliers, and financial accountability.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks.
- Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety, CDM, and site logistics.
- Confident communicator and team leader, comfortable managing diverse subcontractor teams.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel internationally.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with interactive technologies, LED video walls, or projection mapping.
- Familiarity with Crestron, Watchout, Disguise, or similar show-control systems.
- Site certifications such as IPAF, PASMA, SMSTS, or equivalent.
- Experience delivering projects for premium brand environments (e.g. automotive, technology, lifestyle, or defence sectors).
What’s on Offer
- Competitive project-based bonus opportunities.
- Exposure to high-profile UK and international exhibitions and activations.
- Collaborative, creative team culture with a strong focus on innovation and quality.
- Ongoing professional development and training in emerging AV technologies.
- Life insurance
