Product Designer
Location: Dorset (Head Office - On Site)
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOE (up to £50,000 exceptional)
Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday-FridayA well-established, privately owned UK lighting manufacturer is seeking a Product Designer to join its Dorset-based head office team.
The Role
Working within a team of five (Director, two Senior Designers, two Junior Designers), this is a hands-on role for a largely self-sufficient designer who can take a detailed brief and develop concepts through to drawings, prototypes and pre-production.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering new product ranges and ensuring designs are right first time for manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
3D modelling and 2D detailing (SolidWorks)
BOM creation and technical documentation
Prototype development and engineering feasibility
Close collaboration with manufacturing and metal-shop teams
Support bespoke and non-standard product development
Ensure compliance with Quality, ISO and H&S procedures
Requirements
Proven mechanical/product design experience
Strong SolidWorks skills (EPDM, Sheet Metal, Simulation, Visualize; Motion beneficial)
Experience in plastic injection moulding, plastics fabrication and die-casting
Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly
Accurate, reliable and able to manage multiple projects
