Salary: £32,500 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 5:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 1:00pm

Our client is a well-established and growing engineering manufacturer specialising in high-performance automated machinery used across a range of industrial sectors. Due to continued growth and increased demand, they are now seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their engineering team.

The Role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, installation, and maintenance of specialist automated machinery. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys precision work, problem-solving, and working with complex mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and assemble mechanical components and machinery to engineering specifications
- Install and align mechanical systems including conveyors, rotary components, and associated equipment
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Carry out machine fitting, testing, and commissioning activities
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective maintenance
- Support machine upgrades, refurbishments, and changeovers
- Work collaboratively with electrical and controls teams during build and commissioning
- Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and compliance standards
About You
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Mechanical Fitter who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working in a team-based engineering environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Builder, or similar engineering role
- Strong mechanical assembly and fault-finding skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
- Experience working with bearings, shafts, gearboxes, and mechanical alignment
- Competent in the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment
- Good understanding of safe working practices
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience working with automated or special purpose machinery
- Knowledge of conveyors, rotary systems, or pneumatic equipment
- Basic understanding of pneumatic or hydraulic systems
- Willingness to support occasional site-based work if required
