Location: Midlands / Birmingham
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 basic + supplements (£55,000–£60,000 typical earnings)
Travel: Predominantly UK, with around 3 months international travel per year

We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Service Engineer to join a specialist engineering business working on powder processing machinery, industrial automation and complete production-line systems.

This is a varied, hands-on role covering installation, commissioning, breakdowns, servicing and PPM. You could be working on individual machines one week and then supporting the installation and commissioning of a fully integrated production line the next.

The Role

You will be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining and fault-finding on a range of industrial machinery. The role has a strong electrical and automation bias, but we are looking for someone genuinely multi-skilled who is happy working across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Key areas include:

• Installation and commissioning of machinery and production lines.
• Breakdown response, servicing and PPM.
• Fault-finding on 415V three-phase electrical systems.
• Reading and working from electrical drawings and schematics.
• Machine wiring and control panel building.
• Working with sensors, motors, gearboxes and actuators.
• HMI inputs/outputs and basic PLC fault-finding.
• Installing and testing Ethernet/network cables.
• Pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Mechanical assembly, machine installation and alignment.
• Working on conveyors and automated factory equipment.
• Using a DVM/multimeter for electrical testing and fault diagnosis.
• Providing technical support directly to customers.

About You

We would consider candidates from a Service Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Commissioning Engineer background.

Ideally, you will have experience working on industrial capital equipment, automation, factory machinery or production-line equipment.

You should have a strong electrical background and be comfortable working on 415V machinery, but also have good mechanical skills and an understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics and automation.

Experience with conveyors, automated production lines or integrated machinery would be particularly advantageous.

Most importantly, you will be a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving and working directly with customers.

Travel & Location

The role is primarily UK-based, with approximately one overnight stay per week when working in the UK.

There will be around 3 months of international travel per year, with overseas trips typically lasting up to two weeks at a time.

The ideal candidate will be based around Birmingham / the Midlands, with easy access to the UK road network.

• £40,000–£45,000 basic salary
• Supplementary payments taking typical earnings to £55,000–£60,000
