A to Z of Recruitment - Introduction
We know there are a lot of recruitment companies out there.
We know that recruiters have a negative reputation.
We want to tell you that we are different, and we are changing the way that recruiters are seen.
Recruitment is known for being a high pressure environment, but here the consultants aren't targeted in the same way as other agencies, they look for the right people, and how do they know when they have found the right person, because they are specialists in their sectors. They speak to clients regularly, understand their requirements and then align you to the correct job.
Over the next 26 weeks, you will see us post about a letter a week and we will pick a word or 2 beginning with that letter to explain why we are different. Yes you can expect all the usual words in recruitment like I for interview and C for career, but look out for the unusual ones like K for Kudos and X for xenon.
Increase in National Minimum Wage from April 2017
From April 2017, the national minimum wage for people over 25 will increase by 4% from £7.20 to £7.50 per hour.
National minimum wage is a legal entitlement for workers.
Referring to the National Living Wage increase, Hammond said: "Last year we delivered a pay rise to over a million of the lowest paid through the National Living Wage.
"And next month we take more steps to support working families with the cost of living: The national living wage will rise again to £7.50 in April. That's over £500 more for a full-time worker than this year, and £1,400 more than when the National Living Wage was introduced.
"The personal allowance will rise for the seventh year in a row to £11,500, and the higher rate threshold to £45,000. A total of 29m people will be better off, with a typical basic rate taxpayer paying £1,000 less than in 2010."

New Website
SER Limited is pleased to announce the launch of a new website. The redesigned site boasts a modern design, which offers quick and easy access to essential information and features while offering a more comprehensive understanding of the company's services.
SER recognises that the first place people go for new jobs is online, so this website has been made to make it easier and offer greater accessibility to potential and existing clients and candidates. We also know that people use their mobile devices to search for jobs, so the website works well on these platforms too.
Our new website features its very own job search facility that will make it easier for candidates to find their dream job using a live database, and it is now easier than ever for a client to register a vacancy with ourselves.
Emily Yates, the Marketing Manager at SER says, "We recognise that without our clients and candidates, we would not have a business, so everything we do is focussed around making their lives easier. The decision was taken to develop a new website so it is easier to operate and easier to access on the devices that are used by the people who matter to us."

Asbestos Removal Contractors Association further develops the site audits of members
January 2017 saw the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA) enhance the site audits of members.
It is compulsory that Asbestos removal contractors participate in ARCA's audit scheme, which was introduced in the year 2000 to support members but also to ensure high standards.
A contractor must achieve two satisfactory site audits every year, to join and maintain membership of the organisation, which monitors member's performance and ensures consistent high standards in the industry.
The audits are carried out to provide reassurance to several parties, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) that the contractor is complying with relevant legislation.
It is inevitable that audits will change to help raise and maintain consistently high standards across all contractors, and this latest development means that the site visits will now come unannounced, where previously notice was given, ensuring membership to ARCA offers an even stronger reassurance to the clients of a contractors compliance.
"Reaction from members has been very positive, as this is another element to support their management systems and to demonstrate their performance on any site at any time," stated Steve Sadley, Chief Executive of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association.
"Already a major UK end-client has welcomed the unannounced element of ARCA audits, committing to allowing our auditors onto any of their sites."
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), who regulate this licensed industry, require asbestos removal contractors to work to exemplary standards at all times. Now ARCA members (excluding Ireland) will not have prior knowledge of when, or where, an ARCA auditor will be assessing their performance. Therefore, they will need to be prepared, at all times, to demonstrate how the job has been planned and how the plan is being implemented.
