Water Engineer
Location: South West England
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 (dependent on experience) plus company van, fuel card, door to door travel, phone, uniform, PPE, tools, pension and 28 days holiday (including bank holidays)About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Water Engineer to join our growing Water Services team. This is a varied, hands-on role working within the private water industry, supporting customers across domestic, agricultural and commercial sectors.
You'll be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing private water supplies, including boreholes, springs and wells, as well as associated water treatment and pumping systems. Working independently across customer sites, you'll play a key role in ensuring reliable, safe and efficient water supplies while delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission and maintain private water supply systems, including boreholes, springs and wells.
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and maximise system performance.
- Identify opportunities for system upgrades, refurbishments and new installations.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently and safely.
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to customers where appropriate.
- Liaise professionally with customers, contractors and colleagues to deliver a high standard of service.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a field service, maintenance or engineering role.
- Good knowledge of private water supplies, pumping systems or the water industry.
- Experience working with booster pumps, submersible pumps or similar pumping equipment.
- Good understanding of water treatment processes, filtration systems, pumps and valves.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals.
- Experience carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and basic mechanical repairs.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the year.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties, including working with heavy pumping equipment, some of which can weigh in excess of 100kg (using appropriate lifting equipment and safe working practices).
