An exciting opportunity has come up to work for one of the worlds biggest packaging distribution businesses in glass, container, tin, metal and closure packaging to the beverage, food, personal care, pharmaceutical, household care and industrial markets. This role will mainly focus on the spirits markets and will involve a mixture of new business and account management but with travel due to the nature of the role.

Business Development Manager

£45,000 to £55,000, DOE, plus benefits package

Liverpool/Warrington/Yorkshire (Hybrid Working)

Responsibilities

• This role is a combination of both organically growing existing business & generating new business:
• There will be a portfolio of around 40 customers that you need to manage and nurture, which equates to around £4,000,000 - £5,000,000.
• In addition to the above you will visit one major account on a weekly basis to understand their needs and requirements.
• You will cover parts of the Northwest, Yorkshire and Northeast.
• Your role includes dealing with new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, services prospection, negotiation and commercial follow up of UK customers and branching out further afield acting in the markets targeted by the organisation.
• Be part of the team ensuring the department targets are achieved and exceeded.
• You will play an active part in the development of the sales budget, monitor revenue and margins, promote the image of the company and you will continue with the improvement of the initiatives of the company.
• Conduct weekly reports on customer visits, pipeline, sales projections etc.
• Provide excellent communicate channels both internally and externally.

Essential

• A minimum of 3-6 years+ experience in packaging and in the markets stated above.
• Experience of setting own short, medium, and long terms new business targets as well as a strategic approach and consultative approach to the role.
• Be able manage a portfolio of around £4-5 million and to hit a sales target of £250,000 - £500,000 1^st year.
• Have a great understanding of the UK market.
• You must be happy developing new business opportunities and building on your successes.
• Must be able to nurture existing accounts.
• Improve on gross margins.
• A sense of business relationships and customer service.
• High interest in the technical dimension of the products.
