Job Specification: Reactive Plumber
Location: Preston, to work the Northwest
Working Hours: 07:30am – 16:00pm/Mon - Friday
Salary/Package: £28,000 - £35,000 (DOE), Van/Fuel card, PPE/Tools, iPad/Mobile, 32 days holiday inc banks, Death in Service, Call Out/1-8 with increments, OT paid at double time.
Purpose of the role
The Reactive Plumber will respond to emergency and planned maintenance tasks across domestic, and commercial properties. The role involves diagnosing and repairing plumbing faults quickly, safely, and to a high standard, ensuring minimal disruption to customers and compliance with all relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Attend reactive plumbing callouts including leaks, blockages, burst pipes, and heating/water system faults.
- Carry out repairs, replacements, and installations on domestic water systems, cylinders, radiators, and sanitary ware.
- Diagnose plumbing issues efficiently and propose cost-effective solutions.
- Perform planned maintenance works, such as valve servicing, unvented cylinder maintenance, and leak investigations.
- Complete job reports, certification, and customer documentation via mobile system or app.
- Maintain values of professionalism, safety, and customer care always.
Must have or hold
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating (or equivalent).
- Proven experience as a reactive or maintenance plumber.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong knowledge of domestic plumbing systems (gravity-fed, unvented, combi).
- Experience diagnosing and repairing leaks, blockages, and system faults under time pressure.
Desirable
- Unvented Hot Water (G3) qualification.
- Gas Safe registration or working experience alongside heating engineers.
- Water Regulations (WRAS) certificate.
- Experience using mobile job management systems.
- Confined space, working at height, or asbestos awareness certification.
Progression through the company is possible, with in-depth experience of the role being an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided where required.
