An exciting Design and Development Lead role has become available as a Design Engineering Manager within a small technical team. You will be working within a fast-paced environment to oversee a small team and be responsible in leading and supporting product development, process improvement and any technical activities across your department, ensuring products meet specifications and production is optimised whilst meeting the clients needs. This is a role that combines hands-on engineering, project management, leadership and cross department works.

Higher Bentham (North Yorkshire)
£45,000 - £55,000 (Depending on Experience), 25 days plus Bank Holidays, Company pension, life insurance.37.5 hours per week.
8am – 4.30pm Mon- Thurs & Friday 8am – 3.30pm
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Maintain and manage current BOMs within the ERP system.
- Plan and run development and improvement projects alongside live production activities.
- Deliver installation training courses across the product range.
- Provie technical guidance to departments across the business, clients and partners.
- Prioritise workload and allocate accordingly within small team.
- Work closely with the quality department to achieve, maintain and renew product standards.
- Support investigations into warranty claims including client site visits, RCA and implementation of corrective actions.
- Demonstrate strong Solidworks knowledge for design, modification and analysis of products & assemblies.
- Work with supply chain to validate and approve materials.
- Manage drawing office document control.
- Conduct internal product testing.
- Apply project management skills to ensure development, production and improvement activities.
- Get involve with CAPEX projects to provide technical input.
- Wite, update and maintain internal operating procedures.
To apply you MUST have or hold:
- Degree in engineering, materials science or similar.
- 5 years’ experience in an engineering or process manufacturing environment.
- Hands on exposure to production, product development and process improvement.
- Extensive Solidworks skills – design, analysis and modifications.
- Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
- Excellent technical problem solving and decision skills.
- Project Management understanding – timescales, budgets and cross functional teams.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Able to write and maintain clear technical documents and operating procedures.
- Be able to express training skills for internal teams, clients and external partners.
- Willing to visit clients’ sites.
- Strong organisational skills to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects.
- Be able to work across numerous department including Quality, Supply Chain and Production.
