National Key Account Commercial Sales Lead
Salary: Up to £80,000 DOE + performance-based incentives
Location: South East / Hybrid (UK-wide travel with occasional European travel)
Contract: PermanentAn established UK-based lighting solutions business is seeking an experienced National Key Account Commercial Sales Lead to take ownership of its most strategically important customer relationships and drive commercial performance across the organisation.
This is a senior commercial role, ideal for someone who thrives in complex, technical, project-led sales environments and enjoys balancing strategic account leadership with hands-on commercial delivery.
The Role
The successful candidate will lead the commercial strategy across national and high-value accounts, ensuring strong margin control, sustainable growth and long-term customer partnerships. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, they will act as the focal point for complex opportunities, pricing strategy and key account development.
The role plays a critical part in supporting business growth, strengthening customer relationships following recent portfolio expansion, and embedding consistent commercial standards across the sales function.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a national commercial and key account strategy
- Own and manage a portfolio of major national accounts representing a significant proportion of revenue
- Lead high-value negotiations, commercial agreements and strategic account reviews
- Drive margin protection through pricing frameworks and value-based selling
- Lead complex technical and specification-led sales opportunities
- Support regional sales teams on major bids and commercial positioning
- Act as an escalation point for complex customer and project challenges
- Collaborate closely with sales, technical, product and operations teams
- Provide commercial guidance, pricing support and coaching to the wider sales team
- Deliver accurate forecasting, pipeline management and performance reporting
- Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events and trade shows
About the Candidate
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in senior technical sales, key account management or commercial leadership
- Proven success managing strategic accounts within OEM, contractor, distributor or specifier channels
- Strong track record in complex, project-driven sales
- Demonstrable experience of margin management and commercial decision-making
- Solid understanding of lighting or emergency lighting products and the UK electrical market
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Desirable:
- Experience within emergency lighting systems and relevant regulations
- Experience integrating or commercialising acquired product portfolios
- Formal commercial or leadership training
