Field Service Engineer
Material Handling Equipment
Location: UK-wide travel (Midlands & North predominantly)
Role type: Field-basedA specialist material handling equipment manufacturer and service provider is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join its service team. The business supplies bespoke material handling systems to large warehouses and distribution centres across a wide range of industries, including distribution, cement, food packing and pharmaceutical environments.
This role involves working exclusively on the company’s own equipment, supporting customers across multiple UK sites.
The Role
The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for:
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing the company’s own material handling equipment
- Working on equipment including:
- Box, tote and carton lifts
- Bucket elevators
- Pallet lifts
- Mezzanine lifts
- Attending customer sites nationwide to carry out breakdowns, repairs and service work
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing repairs safely and efficiently
- Representing the brand professionally while working directly with customers
- Managing workload and travel independently
Travel & Working Pattern
- UK-wide travel required
- Mon – Thurs 8:00 – 16:30 & Fri 8:00 – 15:30
- Majority of sites located in the Midlands and North, though travel can be nationwide
- 1-4 nights away per week, depending on site locations and workload
- No fixed routine – flexibility is essential
Physical Requirements
- This is a hands-on, physical role
- Candidates should be reasonably fit and comfortable working in industrial and warehouse environments
Skills & Experience
- Mechanical or service engineering background
- Previous field service experience preferred
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills – the engineer will be representing the brand on site
- Ability to work independently and manage regular travel
Training
- Extensive product and systems training provided
- Ongoing technical development and support
