The Company
My client is a leading global OEM manufacturer of food processing and packaging machinery, including mixers, grinders, slicers, and weigh-price labellers.
With over 120 staff in the UK, they are a well-established and highly respected brand within the food industry. Due to continued growth and strong company performance, they are now expanding their UK service engineering team.
The Role
This is a field-based Service Engineer position with a strong mechanical bias and electrical understanding. The role covers service, breakdowns, commissioning, and installation of capital equipment within food manufacturing environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mechanical servicing, fault-finding, and repairs
- Electrical fault diagnosis using drawings and schematics
- Commissioning and installation of new machinery
- Breakdown response and planned service visits (typically 1 job per day)
- Working in wet and cold food production environments
- Software updates and basic controls work
- Changing I/O cards and working with HMIs
- Mechanical components including bearings, shafts, gearboxes, pulleys, chains, and conveyors
Experience Required
- Service Engineer or Maintenance Engineer background
- Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging, material handling, or capital equipment
- Strong mechanical diagnostic skills
- Electrical fault-finding ability
- Experience working on conveyor-based machinery
- Proactive, technically minded, and team-focused approach
Qualifications
- City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent qualification
OR - Significant hands-on experience in a relevant engineering field
- Capital equipment experience preferred
- Understanding of food industry standards and environments
