Hydraulic Hose Depo Assistant
Birtley
£24,000 – £26,000, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, Over time paid at £15 per hour and company pension scheme
Monday – Friday (8am – 5pm with 30 minutes break)
Role Overview
The Hydraulic Hose Depo Assistant will be responsible for identifying, assembling, testing, and managing hydraulic hose systems and fittings to meet customer and industry standards whilst working closely with multiple teams across the depo to support and meet business needs. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a depot environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Identifying the Right Hose & Fittings
- Select appropriate hoses based on pressure rating, temperature range, fluid compatibility, and size requirements.
- Choose correct fittings to ensure compatibility and performance.
- Ensure all hose assemblies meet standards.
2. Hose Assembly & Fabrication
- Cut hoses accurately to specified lengths.
- Crimp or swage fittings using appropriate machinery and tools.
- Conduct pressure testing and inspect assemblies for leaks and compliance.
- Maintain high quality control standards throughout the assembly process.
3. Inventory & Depot Operations
- Stock and organise common hose sizes, fittings, adapters, and quick couplers.
- Track inventory levels and assist with restocking to prevent downtime.
- Prepare and maintain organised “hose kits” for operational efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised depot environment.
4. Safety & Maintenance
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Ensure correct disposal of old hoses and fluids in accordance with regulations.
- Maintain equipment and report any faults or maintenance requirements.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in hydraulic hose assembly, mechanical fitting, or a similar technical role (preferred).
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, fittings, and industry standards (SAE, ISO, OEM).
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good organisational and stock management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills for inventory tracking (desirable).
