My client is an industry leader within the Fluid Power sector having been established over 40 years they have concreted themselves as one of the largest distributors of fluid power products in the UK, supplying various industries. They are now looking to add an experienced Hydraulic Service Engineer to their engineering team working from their site in Gloucester. As part of the engineering team you will be covering the surrounding area attending sites to conduct maintenance, repairs and installations of hydraulic equipment.
Being a confident and competent engineer, you will be focusing on fault finding, PPM and component replacements.

Role
This role requires strong diagnostic skills, hands-on mechanical expertise, and the ability to manage paperwork, communicate with clients, and follow safety regulations for equipment like pumps, cylinders, valves, and hydraulic power packs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM), emergency repairs, and installations of hydraulic equipment such as presses, pumps, valves, actuators, and cylinders.
- Use diagnostic skills to identify and resolve faults in complex mechanical and hydraulic systems, which often involves inspecting components and assemblies.
- Service and repair power packs, perform re-bagging of accumulators, and manufacture hydraulic hoses.
- Work at customer sites across various industries and perform tasks in a workshop, including stripping and rebuilding hydraulic components.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare service reports, safety documents, and asset management data.
- Provide technical advice to customers on system improvements and assist with risk assessments for site work.
- Follow company procedures, industry standards, and relevant safety regulations during all work activities.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Mechanical Aptitude: Proven diagnostic and repair skills in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Hydraulics Knowledge: A strong understanding of hydraulics and fluid power, including the ability to read hydraulic circuit diagrams.
- Technical Documentation: Ability to prepare work files, work instructions, and detailed reports.
- Customer Service: Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Compliance: Adherence to strict safety and quality requirements.
- Other Skills: A valid driving licence, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and excellent organizational skills are also required.
