Certified Occupational Hygienist
Location: Auckland, New Zealand – with regional and occasional national travel
Salary: $95,000 – $110,000 per annum, flights, 2 weeks accommodation upon arrival, assistance with Visa, car, fuel card, phone and holiday entitlement.The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and professionally certified Occupational Hygienist to join a specialist technical team in Auckland.
This is a senior technical position where you will lead and deliver workplace exposure assessments, occupational hygiene monitoring programmes and practical risk-control strategies across a diverse range of industries.
You will work closely with clients, workers, management teams and other technical specialists to identify workplace health risks, interpret exposure data and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations to control occupational exposures.
Important Certification Requirement
Applicants must already hold a recognised professional occupational hygiene certification.
Suitable certifications include:
Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH)
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and undertake comprehensive occupational hygiene exposure assessments.
- Conduct personal and static monitoring for airborne contaminants and physical hazards.
- Assess workplace exposure to contaminants including: Respirable crystalline silica, Welding fumes, Wood dust, Metals, Solvents, Gases, Other hazardous workplace contaminants
- Undertake noise, heat stress, ventilation and respiratory protection assessments.
- Develop appropriate Similar Exposure Groups (SEGs) and defensible sampling strategies.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to workers, managers and senior leadership.
- Support clients with ongoing health-risk management programmes and monitoring strategies.
Essential Requirements
- Current recognised professional occupational hygiene certification, such as COH or CIH
- Demonstrated experience conducting workplace exposure assessments.
- Strong knowledge of occupational hygiene sampling methodologies, analytical limitations and quality assurance requirements.
- Ability to interpret exposure data and develop practical, proportionate and defensible control recommendations.
- Effective project-management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
