Specification Sales Manager - Home Counties (South London & Surrounding Areas)
Location: Home Counties (covering South London and surrounding South East region)
Salary: Competitive salary + benefits
Type: Field BasedA leading and fast-growing manufacturer within the UK electrical industry is looking to appoint an experienced Specification Sales Manager to develop specification activity across an established and high-performing Home Counties territory, covering South London and the wider South East region.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and commercially focused sales professional who enjoys creating opportunities, influencing decision-makers and delivering sustainable commercial growth.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for an established region with strong distribution relationships already in place. Rather than building a territory from scratch, the focus will be on identifying new specification opportunities, strengthening relationships with key stakeholders and progressing projects from concept through to completion.
The Role
As Specification Sales Manager, the successful candidate will develop and manage specification opportunities across social housing, residential new build, commercial and mixed-use developments throughout the Home Counties and South London region.
The role will involve engaging with key project stakeholders at an early stage, influencing product selection and ensuring specifications are successfully carried through to installation via the established distribution network.
This is a consultative sales role suited to someone who enjoys relationship-led selling, identifying opportunities ahead of competitors and taking ownership of projects throughout the sales cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and generate new specification opportunities across the Home Counties and South London region.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key project stakeholders.
- Manage projects from initial specification through to completion.
- Identify new business opportunities and maximise existing customer relationships.
- Influence product selection and secure specifications at an early stage.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver successful projects.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and deliver sustainable territory growth.
- Monitor market activity, competitor movements and forthcoming developments.
- Identify upcoming projects and engage with relevant stakeholders before specifications are finalised.
- Deliver engaging and professional presentations to customers and project stakeholders.
- Manage multiple projects and sales opportunities effectively.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a commercially astute sales professional with proven experience in specification or project-led sales.
They will be confident influencing customers and stakeholders, developing relationships at multiple levels and managing their own territory with a high degree of autonomy.
The company is particularly interested in candidates with:
- Proven experience within specification, project-led or consultative sales.
- Ideally, experience within the electrical industry or a closely related technical sector.
- Experience working with social housing, residential and/or commercial developments.
- A proven track record of winning new business and growing existing accounts.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Excellent relationship-building and influencing abilities.
- Strong territory planning and pipeline management skills.
- Outstanding presentation skills with the confidence to present to a range of audiences.
- A proactive and entrepreneurial approach to business development.
- The resilience, ambition and drive to maximise a high-potential territory.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing manufacturer and take ownership of specification development across a key Home Counties territory covering South London and the wider South East.
The role provides the freedom and autonomy associated with a field-based position, alongside the support of an established and collaborative team.
