Are you an experienced Fire Alarm Service Engineer looking for a new opportunity with an established and growing life safety business?
We’re recruiting for an experienced engineer to join a well-established organisation operating across London and the Home Counties. This is a home-based, field service position where you’ll work across a varied portfolio of commercial and public-sector sites.
The business has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality fire detection and life safety solutions, working with customers across sectors including education, leisure, commercial property, housing and facilities management.
The Role
As a Fire Alarm Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance, servicing and reactive fault-finding across a range of fire alarm systems throughout London and the surrounding Home Counties.
You’ll work independently across customer sites, ensuring systems are maintained to a high standard and that all work is completed safely, accurately and in line with relevant standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance of fire alarm systems
- Attend reactive breakdowns and call-outs, diagnosing faults and completing repairs where possible
- Identify underlying faults and provide clear recommendations for any remedial works
- Complete testing and commissioning activities as required
- Produce accurate service reports and job documentation on the day
- Clearly communicate faults, findings and recommended actions to customers
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant British Standards, RAMS and site procedures
- Maintain company tools, test equipment, vehicle stock and documentation
- Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota when required
- Ensure all jobs are completed efficiently and to a high standard
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer who is confident working independently and has strong technical knowledge across a range of fire detection systems.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience in fire alarm servicing, maintenance and fault-finding
- Strong knowledge of leading fire alarm panels and systems
- Experience with manufacturers such as Gent, Notifier and Advanced, or similar
- The ability to diagnose faults accurately and identify the root cause
- A strong understanding of testing, compliance and relevant British Standards
- Excellent attention to detail when completing reports and service documentation
- A professional and customer-focused approach
- The ability to work calmly and effectively in live customer environments
- A full UK driving licence
- An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £45,000 basic salary, depending on experience
- OTE circa £49,000 with overtime and call-out payments
- Overtime paid at 1.5x, with 2x on Sundays
