Position - TMV Engineer
Location - Preston
Salary/Package - £26,436 per annum, Van/Fuel card, PPE & Tools, 32 days holiday including Banks, OT available
Purpose of the role
We are looking for a reliable and methodical TMV Engineer to join a growing Water Hygiene Team. This is a field-based role involving the inspection, servicing, maintenance, testing and repair of Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) and associated water systems across healthcare and mental health facilities.
You will play an important role in maintaining water safety, controlling scalding risks and supporting the prevention of waterborne infections, including Legionella.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in occupied healthcare environments, demonstrating professionalism, attention to detail and an understanding of patient safety, safeguarding and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing, inspections and temperature testing of TMVs.
- Inspect, clean, descale, service and replace TMV components where required.
- Identify faults, defective valves and temperature control issues, undertaking authorised repairs and replacements.
- Complete commissioning, performance testing and fail-safe checks where applicable.
- Record inlet and mixed water temperatures, test results, servicing activities and remedial works accurately.
- Identify and report defects, failed safety checks and installations requiring further investigation.
- Ensure water systems are safely reinstated following maintenance.
- Work in accordance with relevant legislation and guidance, including HTM 04-01, ACOP L8 and HSG274.
You must have or hold
- Relevant TMV training or a recognised qualification appropriate to the duties undertaken.
- Knowledge of water hygiene principles, temperature control and scalding prevention.
- Understanding of health and safety when working in occupied healthcare environments.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and complete accurate service and compliance records.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach.
- Ability to work independently, manage a daily workload and report concerns appropriately.
Progression through the company is possible, with in-depth experience of the role being an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided where required
