Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Salary: Upto £50,000+ DOE
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Are you an Electrical Design Engineer with experience in high-voltage (HV) projects, substations or renewable energy infrastructure?
We're working with a growing energy infrastructure business delivering complex electrical engineering projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they're looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of projects across HV infrastructure, battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar PV and other renewable energy technologies.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to develop their technical expertise while working on major energy infrastructure projects from initial design through to construction and commissioning.
The Role
You'll take ownership of electrical engineering deliverables across a range of EPC and infrastructure projects, working closely with project managers, engineering teams and other technical disciplines to ensure designs are delivered safely, accurately and in line with project requirements.
Experience with HV projects, MV/HV substations or electrical power systems is particularly important.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and coordinate electrical designs for HV infrastructure, substations, BESS, solar PV and other renewable energy projects.
Produce and check electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, cable schedules, schematics, layouts and earthing designs.
Carry out electrical calculations and studies, including cable sizing, load flow, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination and earthing studies.
Develop and maintain electrical network models using relevant power system analysis software.
Prepare technical reports, design calculations, specifications and engineering documentation.
Review contractor, supplier and equipment documentation for technical compliance.
Work alongside project management, civil engineering, SCADA and other technical teams to coordinate project interfaces.
Support site surveys, installation activities, testing, commissioning and factory/site acceptance testing.
Provide technical input into tender submissions, equipment specifications and procurement activities.
Ensure designs comply with relevant UK electrical standards, industry regulations and health and safety requirements.
Support and mentor graduate engineers where required.
About You
To be considered, you'll ideally have:
A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
At least three years' experience in electrical engineering design.
Experience working on HV projects, MV/HV substations, power distribution or renewable energy infrastructure.
A strong understanding of electrical power systems and relevant UK standards.
Experience producing electrical design deliverables and carrying designs through review and approval.
Experience with electrical studies such as cable sizing, short-circuit calculations, load flow, protection coordination or earthing analysis.
The ability to work collaboratively with engineering, construction and project delivery teams.
Software Experience
Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:
DIgSILENT PowerFactory
ETAP
ELEK
CYMCAP
EPLAN
AutoCAD
Experience with PVsyst, PVcase or PV*SOL would also be advantageous.
What's on Offer?
Salary of £36,000-£52,000, depending on experience.
Permanent position with a growing energy infrastructure business.
