About the Business
An established M&E contractor specialising in commercial and industrial design & build projects. A significant portion of our work is within the film and TV production sector, where we are proud to collaborate with a number of high-profile clients.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking to recruit a confident, reliable, and detail-oriented Electrically biased M&E Quantity Surveyor / Electrical Estimator to join our team.
This is a hands-on commercial role, primarily focused on the preparation of M&E tenders, cost planning, and the overall commercial management of projects.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for cost control, procurement, and contract administration from tender stage through to final account. Key duties will include analysing employer's requirements, supporting and/or preparing competitive tender submissions for both pre-designed and design & build projects, valuing work-in-progress, managing variations, undertaking subcontractor procurement, and providing accurate cost forecasts.
The role will involve close collaboration with our design and engineering teams to ensure project costs are developed accurately alongside practical, compliant M&E design solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
▪ Meeting with clients to understand employer requirements
▪ Pricing and preparing quotations for M&E installation projects
▪ Analysing drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to produce accurate take-offs and cost estimates
▪ Supporting Project Managers with tender submissions, including attending pre- and post-tender meetings and site reviews as required
▪ Assisting with valuations, variations, and final accounts
▪ Monitoring project costs and budgets
▪ Engaging with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, assess commercial submissions, and manage subcontract cost risk
▪ Ensuring all tender submissions are thoroughly reviewed and quality checked
▪ Producing final project cost reports and maintaining commercial data
▪ Reviewing subcontract orders and terms
Essential Criteria
▪ Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor, or Estimator role
▪ HNC (preferably HND) in Quantity Surveying
▪ Ability to read and interpret M&E drawings and specifications
▪ Strong numerical and analytical skills
▪ Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
▪ Strong organisational and communication skills
▪ Full UK driving licence
▪ Experience working within Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health projects"SER-IN"
